I'm hoping that I'm missing something obvious. In that respect it also seems to be patterned after "Life Seeded". but you can't play robotic with this start so that loophole isn't going to help here. Ring world IS still good for playing tall IF you play as robots and rush habitats by focusing on building as many upgraded stations as possible while settling all the worlds with the +200% habitability bonus. If I have to spread out wide to find ocean worlds because I'm severely penalized on non-wet planet types that defeats the purpose completely. Each species is limited to a maximum of 5 traits traits that cost 0 points do not count against this limit but can only be acquired from certain. Some traits are negative and have a negative cost, refunding points into the pool. The whole idea, as I understand it, of playing tall is that you are trying to squeeze out the most benefit from the least amount of systems so that you can move ships around more easily and place strategic stations at choke points or in key systems for massive benefit. I think mostly because the process of flooding a planet in water is simple enough that most players can call out the problems with it, while with something like a neutron sweep it's so far into the realm of scifi that their suspension of disbelief kicks in. I guess its comparable to starting on a Gaia world with Gaia preference but as far as I can tell that is the worst origin, especially since you can't combine it with agrarian Idyll to get more Gaia worlds to inhabit. but while your expanding out WIDE and waiting you could be seeing your population growth stall out, while being limited in how many building slots you've got. Your going to have to play WIDE looking for those rare water worlds early on, or claiming as many terraforming candidates as possible for a later growth spurt after you get the tech to transform them into water worlds and then grow them up to the maximum +3. You aren't going to be able to cram a lot of water worlds into a small space the way you can cram habitats together. But more importantly the aquatic trait doesn't seem to be compatible with a TALL play. Adding to that you get bonus' to production on your stations, and each world in the system adds to your trade value.Ī size thirty world that can be brought up to size 33 doesn't seem like its really enough to compete especially with the recent changes to population growth.
